Bought two. Ideal for 1911 work removing mainspring house (and substituting for its pin while working) and for substituting for thumb safety's pin while working. Outstanding!

I had broken this punch in my set, so I ordered another one since it matched the set. It broke on the very first pin I tried to remove. So now I have a broken tool and a partially disassembled firearm that will have to wait for another tool to show up. I will be ordering a different brand of punch this time around.

I have had this set for about a month and worked on some very old rusty, stubborn parts and they worked great. Buy the entire set you will be amazed how much you will use them.

These Starret punches are far and away the highest quality pin punches I have ever used or even heard of. It is still possible to bend and break them but be assured no other punch even compares.

Good, hardened steel in common diameters. I just wish Starrlett made a more complete set with roll pin punches, brass punches and nylon punches in a convenient kit.

Being as much of a tool nut as an amateur gunsmith, I found these to be the set I wish I had bought the first time. Built solid, easy to hold and the right size range. Start with these the first time and you won't have to buy another.

I really thought I'd go top quality with the Starrett name but they are no better than any ordinary punch you can get for less money at Brownells. The smaller sizes bend very easily and the larger sizes bulge on the ends. Good name but punches are not their thing.

the small punch will break if you are too rough with it... doesnt matter who makes the punch its always the little guy that snaps. great quality as you would expect from starret!

I've been working on firearms since 1983 and I've had the same set of Starrett Punches (wooden container) ever since. Yes, I have broken two 1/16" in 27 years and both times it was completely my fault. I simply ground down the two broken punches and use them as starters...haven't broken another since. A great product made in the USA and built to last. Best set of standard punches for general gun-work available.

This is the nicest punch set I have found, just the appearance tells you that this is a quality product. It seems like some people have had problems with breaking the thin punches, but I have had good luck so far. Any punch will get damaged if you pound on them hard enough, so I use starter punches for the stubborn pins and haven't seen any damage yet.

The knurled grip surface makes them very easy to use, there's no way you can slip regardless of how much oil and grease you have on your fingers. They are quite a bit more expensive than the Chinese punches you find in the hardware stores, but you'll understand why when you pick them up and start using them. And yeah, they are pretty too!

I too broke one of these punches the first time I used it. It is an ok set, but I found that you may be better off purchasing the punches you will need seperately. I have only found uses for 2 of these punches on my AR15 builds.

Except for the 1/16 inch punch, this is a great set. The 1/16 inch punch keeps breaking on me, though; I'm already on my 3rd in less than a year. That's why only 4 stars, but overall it's a top-tier high quality set. Buy it, and you'll never look back. Consider purchasing a 1/16 inch starter punch also to try and prolong the life of the 1/16 inch punch in this set.

Best set of punches available. A "must have" for any work bench.

The finish on these punches is very well done and they hold up to frequent use. The oil from my hands has rusted most tools I own quickly but after a year of use these punches still look brand new. Nice product.

This item has excellent quality and the Made in USA label that means much to me. I bought it for use with a carry kit for a Glock. I have other punches from Brownell's that are also good, but I believe that the Starrett is slightly superior.

I have to drive a lot of 1/16 inch pins in my work, and this one has proven to be the best one yet. The knurled shaft provides a very good holding surface. It has required redressing only after months of hard use; much longer than other punches I've used.
